Farewell Andreas

Tuesday 10th of december 2013 Andreas Otto deceased.

I met Andreas at the TYPO3 Snowboard Tour in March 2003 and there i found out that he was working for another web agency in Frankfurt, Germany. We decided to stay in touch as we both felt that TYPO3 was a tool that enchanted us. We managed to organize the Frankfurt TYPO3 Usergroup (FTUG) together meeting once a month.

Somehow I asked Andreas to join our company. He introduced us to CVS and worked on many customer projects with TYPO3. Andreas was always smiling, even when Servers started to misbehave, he kept his calm and positive way.  

I will remember sitting with him in a temporary container office at UNESCO setting up a multi server environment for the TYPO3 Website. There was some kind of final fronteer feeling at that time.

While traveling together we had many great conversations that you can only have with a friend.

Andreas left dkd to join SMA, working on the clients side. In the meantime he married and built a house for his lovely wife Gaby.

We kept in touch thru the TYPO3 Community and the work of Andreas on the Extension L1ON Manager.

One day last year Andreas decided to come back to work with us. We at dkd felt honored to see Andreas join us again.

I will always remember Andreas and his friendly smile. He was a friend, a colleague and partner in thoughts. His witty humour, his love for cats and his avid observances will be missed not only by myself i suppose.

A friendly community member has left the stage.

I hope to see you one day again.
