Say hello to Buzz! Say hello to TYPO3 4.1

Category: TYPO3, Personal, Olivier Dobberkau

By: Olivier

Hello Fellow Buzzers. My Name is Olivier Dobberkau. I have been using TYPO3 since Version 3.2. TYPO3 was featured in an article in the German IT Magazine iX. We were looking for alternatives to our selfcreated cms and thought we should give it a try.

Now almost 7 Years later TYPO3 has evolved to a fully fledged CMS and it is still developing great.

Here is my personal Review of each TYPO3 Version I have used.

- 3.2 My first TYPO3 Version. Backend was 100% Javascript. Today this is called Web 2.0. Documenation was sparse and writing HELLO WORLD took me 2 weeks.

- 3.3 No Classic Backend anymore. The Alternative Backend was introduced.

- 3.5 Extensions came and TYPO3 lifted off. Modern Template Building and my first TYPO3 Snowboard Tour in Splüggen. The Truck Garage that made some real good connections for me.

- 3.6 Language Handling started to get serious. UTF8. We waited very long for this Release.

- 3.7 This is what 3.6 should have been right away.

- 3.8 TYPO3 gets more Mature. Improved Language and Translationshandling.

- 4.0 Versioning & Workspaces: God we have waited for this!

- 4.1 IRRE. I have a Dream: Global categories for all Extensions and for Content Rendering.

Thats eight released Versions in 7 Years! Thats something.

Let me know what you think. Which version did you start your TYPO3 Relationship with?
