Beware of problems when upgrading Front End User Registration to version 2.6.0

Category: Security

By: Marcus Krause

The TYPO3 Security Team has become aware that upgrading TYPO3 third-party extension Front End User Registration (sr_feuser_register) might cause problems with a security impact.

The TYPO3 Security Team would like to inform users of TYPO3 third-party extension Front End User Registration about a problem that might appear when upgrading the extension to version 2.6.0.

Depending on your current configuration, mails sent out during the registration might reach the wrong recipient. In detail, mails that allow to accept/reject a registration - intended to be sent to the TYPO3 administrator - might wrongly reach the user who is registering an account.

The reason for this behavior is the usage of outdated template markers in custom templates.

For more details and advices to solve this problem please have a look at bug report #15182!
