The TYPO3 security team has elected a new team leader, Helmut Hummel, who has been active member of the team since early 2008.
Helmut is taking over from Lars Houmark who was the security team leader from February 2007 and who has now decided to leave the team. Lars played an important role in getting the team to where it stands today. During his team leadership, the team benefited a lot from his ideas.
Among other things, Lars helped establish and improve the internal tools of the security team (for example, our ticket system and our wiki), which made our workflows easier to control. He also invested a lot of passion in setting up our extension policy and worked on guidelines to standardize the workflows and improve the quality of our security announcements. He ensured that new blood was added to the team at regular intervals, so that it was possible for us to keep up pace with the increasing amount of security issues reported to us.
We would like to thank Lars for all the good things he has done during the last years and wish him all the best in the future. Those are things we can build upon!
Helmut is the ideal person to continue Lars' work and help the security team to face the challenges of the future. Many of you will know him already from his contributions regarding the TYPO3 core or were in contact with him when cooperating with the security team. If you were on the TYPO3 developer days in Elmshorn or at the Snowboard Tour in 2008 or 2009, you may have had a chat with him already. Or have a chat with him now: He is currently attending the T3CON09 in Frankfurt. Helmut is looking forward to working with a dedicated team facing the challenges that lie ahead as we strive for better security.
We are always looking for new and skilled team members to extend our team, so we would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to get in touch with us at T3CON09 or via mail.
We hope you all have a good time at T3CON09,
Henning
Member of the TYPO3 security team
