More than a year after 4.1, the TYPO3 Association release version 4.2 of our beloved CMS. Think about this : 500 bugs and features. Read again, more than 500 so its more than one commit a day. Enough to keep the doctor away I would say.
So does this mean TYPO3 was flawed and buggy? Absolutely no. Bugs, yeah like in any product of that size. The site Ohloh says TYPO3 is 2.7 millions lines if you add Trunk, typo3xdev and 5.0 work. How can you expect this much code to be error free ?
While at Ohloh (http://www.ohloh.net/projects/58) you can evaluate the work done so far. Heres the scoop: 43 millions dollars. About 5 Euros ;)
So if you want to get a fast feature review go read the excellent Release notes from Thomas Esders at http://typo3.org/development/articles/release-notes-42.
There are a lot of obvious new good stuff but also some more hidden ones.
My personal smaller favourites are:
Regarding the last one, theres a new uninstalled sysext for this that use the new BE: opendocs. This one is a shy extension so remember to check the box in EM to see it.
