A new Installer

TYPO3 was one of the first systems having an installer - and it served us well for a really long time.

In the meantime, other projects have created new, shiny installers which include localization, a nice theme, and a better usability than the "old" TYPO3 installer.

More than a year ago, Thomas just joined the core team and was really feeling that he should change something concerning the installer. He did not talk too much about it, but he spent a lot of time creating a nice architecture for the new installer.

Then, he started to port over the old modules, a task which he has nearly finished now! We are very happy that we can ship this new installer side-by-side with the old one for TYPO3 4.2 alpha 2.

Please, please test the new installer a lot, and give Thomas valuable feedback! Maybe some of you even feel encouraged to finish some modules (the DB admin module for example or the Update wizard) - I am sure Thomas will be happy about every helping hand!

Together with your help, we can manage to get this project finished for TYPO3 4.2!
