Raw photo converters for linux

Category: Sebastian Kurfürst, Technology

I have been interested in raw photo editing since two or three years, especially in the programs for linux. For a long time, there only was a gimp plugin and dcraw, a command-line based raw converter.

Today, I stumbled over an article at linux.com which describes LightZone which is a commercial raw converter for windows and OS X. The great thing about it is that they have a free linux version which has the same functionality as the windows version!

I have just had a quick look at it, and I think it can measure with other professional tools like RawShooter.

I just found it so great to find such a free (free as in beer) tool so I had to tell you!

Greets, Sebastian

PS: Maybe Raw Therapee, an OS-tool, is right for you, too!

PPS: If you are interested in a quite full-featured image editor, have a look at Pixel. It is not free, but well worth the price. Some highlights include full-featured color management and tablet support!
