During the last months, Jochen Rau did a fabulous job porting the FLOW3 MVC framework back to TYPO3 v4. It will enter the core for TYPO3 4.3 as a system extension (ext_base), and drastically improve the possibilities for extension authors.
We had a meeting of TYPO3 v4 and v5 developers at the snowboard tour to review the MVC implementation and discuss open questions and the next steps. Below, I'll outline some of the decisions we took:
New kickstarter: Because the current kickstarter is not sufficent for MVC and Domain Driven Design, we planned a new kickstarter which will help people in building such applications, giving them effective tools to quickly build MVC based extensions.
Fluid in TYPO3 4.3: Fluid was originally planned to be shipped with TYPO3 4.4, but as everybody saw the need for a new template engine, we made some efforts on the snowboard tour to port Fluid to TYPO3 v4. Thus, we will be able to ship Fluid with TYPO3 4.3.
Different file and class naming: TYPO3 v4 extensions based on the MVC framework will have a filename and directory structure as it is done in FLOW3. This will feel strange if you are accustomed to TYPO3 v4 extensions, but will ease the transition to FLOW3 lateron.
I'm really happy with the above results, and by talking with many people, I generally feel that we are on the right track!

Glad I saw some boarding pictures on other sites and flickr already, as otherwise I'd have thought that it was all work and no fun during T3BOARD09 ;-)
