Here it is:
abc.bee3.com/download/
Ill try to explain what it is...
Typo3abc is a package for ISPs/TYPO3 agencies. It makes kickstarting new TYPO3 sites possible (in a few seconds) - with some heavy add-ons.
Websites created get a super-simplified /typo3abc backend for editing and small design changes - alongside the regular /typo3 login (that can be closed/opened etc.)
A little background...
Typo3abc was originally developed by us - aka. my company, BEE3, when the company was younger. It was based upon the rationale that TYPO3 was a great CMS, but that:
- starting a new project fast was not easy
- at the time, no one were offering free templates
- setting up an easy-to-use backend usergroup took a lot of time
Weve tried to develop a system that address these issues.
Lots of projects only need the most simple things - the ability to insert text and pictures etc. Typo3abc pretty much does that.
I personally hope that Typo3abc can contribute to make way for further development in making TYPO3 easy to use.
Weve always wanted to release Typo3abc as an extension of some sort but must realize that we just never got around to actually wrapping together the package, and making the installation of Typo3abc itself easy. Documentation and finalizing is a killer - sorry.
Therefore we regret that documentation is poor - and there might be a few bumps here and there.
Would be nice if someone else in the community could lift the package to a proper extension for everyone to benefit from as it can so easily extend the TYPO3 experience without compromises to the solid technical base, TYPO3 is.
The package should be directly usable. Feel free to contact me (rasmus @ bee3.com) if you need to know more about a detail or two.
The package roughly consists of:
Kickstarter
Setup-data
Administration-system
Template-site
Typo3abc backend for TYPO3
A handful of TYPO3 templates and dummy-pictures
Anything can be altered.
Conditions:
Everything is licensed under TYPO3. My company (BEE3) doesnt have to be mentioned anywhere, all code is free to be altered as long as the TYPO3 licensing is respected. The product does not have to be mentioned as Typo3abc, this is only a title for reference, everything can be renamed.
Suggestion to anyone wishing to do further development on Typo3abc:
Count the clicks!
Try to count the clicks on everything! And limit the number needed to an absolute minimum. No matter what the user is supposed to be enabled to do, it should be done with the fewest possible number of clicks.
With the version released here, a user can kickstart a site, insert logo, change colors to match, change template, insert a top-picture, enter a new text on the frontpage, add a contact form, and see the result in a new window - with fewer than 20 clicks. This is important and is the only thing we ask you to kindly respect if doing further development - on what we called Typo3abc.
